  • Reduction of thickened nails
  • Ingrown toenails (Onyfix)
  • Fungal toenail infections (Toefx)

What to Expect During Your Treatment

We treat every visit with you as if it is our first interaction. A full assessment of your feet is completed on arrival. All nails will then be cut and filed with an electric file. Thickened or fungal nails are also reduced. Cuticles are removed and nail edges cleaned. Corns, calluses, thickened skin and cracked heels are treated if these are issues that apply to you. We do a lower limb assessment at each visit and will also offer suggestions for toe spacers and other offloading devices if we feel that they would benefit you. The visit is completed with a foot massage with lotion. If we have any concerns, they will be addressed with you immediately.

Why Choose Medical Footcare?

Sometimes we just cannot reach our toes, other times we have physical roadblocks like arthritis in our hands or hip/knee replacements that prevent us from caring for our feet. Whether you just need routine footcare, you want relief from pain and discomfort or to prevent injury/infection, having your feet cared for by a trained professional has a multitude of benefits.  Being proactive instead of reactive helps prevent many issues from developing with our feet that may in turn create issues in other areas of our lives. The best benefit of all, it FEELS great!

Treatments

Fungal Nail Treatments

Tired of remedies that don’t work? ClearToe Therapy is MADE IN CANADA and is designed to be a safe and effective solution for the treatment of toenail fungus. The ClearToe Therapy Light by the innovators at ToeFX is authorized by Health Canada for clearance of toenail fungus.  This safe, non-toxic and simple treatment can be administered in 30-40 minutes. The ClearToe Therapy light is designed to clear up the yellow, crumbling appearance of toenail fungus (onychomycosis). The ClearToe Therapy Light is a Class II medical device and is the only photo disinfection technology approved by Health Canada for the treatment of nail fungus. Lasers are not used in this product.  Depending on the level of infection clients will need on average 8-10 treatments spaced 2 weeks apart. Because your toenails grow at a slower rate when there is fungal infection present, it can take 12-18 months for the nails to completely grow out. Maintenance treatments are recommended during this period to help prevent reinfection. For more information please consider visiting the following website www.toefx.com

Onyfix Nail Correction

Onyfix Nail Correcting system is a newly innovative German product that enables painless treatment of ALMOST all forms of ingrown/Involuted toenails. Our footcare nurse will customize the application of the Onyfix compound to meet your individual needs. The Onyfix strip works by helping your nail to maintain the natural shape at the base of the nail as it grows out. It helps to retrain and reshape your nail bed. This process is pain free both during and after application and is a GREAT alternative to surgical ingrown nail removal. Please note that patients will require more than one application.  Onyfix may not be a suitable solution if there are mechanical issues contributing to change in nail shape. The number of applications is dependent on the severity of the ingrown/involuted nail. Each additional application will be subject to payment. Each application will last approximately 3-5 months depending on the rate of nail growth. For more information please consider visiting the following website prior to your appointment. www.onyfix.com

Fingernail Care

As we age, issues like eyesight and arthritis can make cutting your fingernails a problem. Our nurse would be pleased to trim your fingernails as an add on service to your footcare treatment.

Insurance Coverage

Our footcare nurse is registered as a provider with Veterans Affairs.

Our receipts include a nursing license number. Most insurance companies will cover part or the full cost of your treatment. Please note an order from your Doctor may be required.

As a medical treatment, nursing footcare may also be applied towards your medical expenses on income tax returns if you do not have private insurance. Annual statements may be provided for income tax at client’s request.
