Deoxycholic Acid injections (ie. Belkyra/Kybella) are Health Canada approved. They are used in adults to improve the appearance of moderate to severe fat below the chin (submental fat). This is commonly known as a “double chin.”

Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring molecule in our digestive systems and aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. Once destroyed, these cells being treated can no longer store or accumulate fat. Further treatment is not expected once you have reached your desired aesthetic goal.

Other areas of the body that may also be treated include the bra rolls, above the knees, the abdominal region, and the upper arms. This is a non-invasive treatment with a relatively easy recovery. Results are visible in 2-4 treatments. The number of treatments required are determined by the amount of fat present and your personal goals. Treatments are spaced 1 month apart and the maximum number of treatments for an area is 6.
